In October 2007, young people from across the Highlands did something amazing! Along with a team of volunteers and international balloon artists, they built a HUGE 65 meter long model of the Loch Ness Monster from 70,000 balloons!
It was an amazing team effort involving long hours, sore fingers but a lot of fun! Throughout the 2 long days it took to construct the monster, young people worked tirelessly and enthusiastically. Dutch balloon artist Guido said that this was one of the most hardworking teams he'd worked with!

Once the huge monster was assembled, it was launched onto the loch in a delicate operation. In true Nessie style, it didn't want to stay around long though and was broken up on the shore! Once everything was cleared up, the whole Monsterness team had a celebration meal and agreed that although he wasn't around for long, our monster truly was worth it.
Guido pointed out that nothing lasts long when it's made from balloons, but the memory for the people involved will last for a very long time.
