Calman offers a range of services to young people across the Highlands in order to meet a number of different needs often faced by young people looking to live independently. Most importantly, we aim to provide a flexible service; young people can be involved with Calman for as much or as little time as needed depending on what it is that they are looking to achieve.
Calman accepts referrals from a range of sources and young people are welcome to contact us directly to see if we can be of any assistance.
These pages are designed to give information to young people, employers, professionals and other interested parties about what we offer – we invite you to explore these services and projects using the menu on the left-hand side or by clicking the links below.
Housing Support is available to young people aged 16-25 who are homeless, at risk of homelessness or who just need practical support with the responsibilities involved in running a household.
Calman training is for young people aged 14-25 who are about to leave school or have left school and are unemployed. Here, young people can learn the skills needed to find and keep a job. We offer a range of accredited training for young people at all levels.
Our various Cooking services are an opportunity for young people in the wider Highland area to learn the basics of good, healthy and affordable cooking. Young people can join a group in Inverness, Invergordon, Dingwall, Golspie, Aviemore, Fort William or Portree to learn how to prepare great food, get a free recipe book and enjoy sharing a meal in a relaxed setting with our team. Our H-eatwell project, delivered in partnership with Changeworks, also offers advice on getting the most from your heating bills.
Our Social Enterprises employ and train a number of young people in Inverness and, in addition to producing quality goods, every penny raised through these enterprises is re-invested into Calman’s other charitable work.
Calman is always looking to continue developing innovative new services to meet the ever-changing needs of young people across the Highlands. To keep abreast of our upcoming developments please see our developments page. We also encourage young people and stakeholders with comments and suggestions about our services to contact us.
